Koumoutsakos to visit Washington and Vienna on Monday and Tuesday

Alternate Protection Citizen Minister responsible for issues of migration Giorgos Koumoutsakos will visit Washington and Vienna respectively, for a series of meetings aiming at that people's awareness on the migration and refugees crisis in Greece as well as the promotion of Greece's positions on the promotion of its priorities.

Specifically, in Washington Koumoutsakos will meet with the Secretary of Homeland Security and Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Strategy, Policy, and Plans Chad Wolf, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Ron Johnson and the member with the US House of Representatives Dina Titus and with other State Department officials.

On Monday 18 November, Koumoutsakos will address a special meeting of the Atlantic Council on the modern migration and refugee challenge in Eastern Mediterranean

On Tuesday, he will participate in a debate with Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of European and Euroasian Affairs Philip Reeker, with president of the network for the reform in Greece and Europe Anna Diamantopoulou and with the executive vice president of the Atlantic Council Damon Wilson, that will be held on the sidelines of the Congress "Southeast Europe and East Med: New strategies, new perspectives.

Later on Tuesday, Koumoutsakos will go to Vienna to meet with the Interior Minister of Austria Wolfgang Peschorn and the head of the European Support of Asylum Organisation Nina Gregori.

Koumoutsakos will also address the conference "Vienna Migration Conference 2019" in which will also take part Foreign Minister of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, the Foreign Minister of Malta Carmelo Abela, the Deputy Interior Minister of Turkey Ismail Catakli, the Deputy Migration Policy Minister of Portugal Claudia Pereira and the Deputy Interior Minister of Slovenia Sandi Curin.

The Greek minister will hold meetings with all the participating ministers on the sidelines of the conference.
